Mayday, Mayday! You're Needed in The Room!

You are not here just to be here.

You were created to TAKE SPACE.

But not just any space: YOUR SPACE and in YOUR FIELD!

That’s an important distinction.

Because if you are operating in the wrong field or refuse to occupy the space God has equipped you for, then not only are you limiting yourself, but you are potentially restricting the Hands of God from moving on your behalf and clearing the path for your advancement (see Psalm 78:41).

Sometimes, what we call “obstacles” or “challenges” may be the result of us either occupying the wrong space or the right space but in the wrong field.

So today, especially if you have that persistent nudge in your spirit telling you, “This isn’t IT,” I want to challenge you to take a step back and ask yourself the following:

1. Do I have the mindset that will allow me to TAKE SPACE?

Because occupying your space requires more than talent.

You can be gifted and still think too small.

You can be called and still struggle with insecurity.

You can have the ability and still continuously shrink yourself because you don’t believe you belong in certain rooms.

Before God expands your territory, your mindset may need to expand first.

2. Am I operating in a field that actually matches my God-given talents?

I always tell people that I don’t consider myself to be a great paralegal, but I am a great communicator and closer. So once I open my mouth, there's a good chance that I am closing the deal.

That is why you have to look deeper than your occupation and ask:

a) What comes naturally to me that consistently produces results?

b) What do people continuously come to me for?

c) What ability seems to follow me regardless of where I work?

Your job title may change, but your God-given talents have a way of continuing to reveal themselves.

3. Once you recognize your talents and you are mentally ready, then you can ask God to help you OCCUPY YOUR SPACE in YOUR FIELD.

To conclude, taking your space is not about becoming the loudest person in the room. It is refusing to waste time or to keep shrinking in a field where God intended for you to have influence.

There are rooms that need what God placed inside of you.

There are conversations that need your voice.

There are problems with solutions connected to your gift.

Occupy that space!
