Consistency is a gift to YOURSELF!!!

When I look back over the past 20 years, besides my faith in God, the one thing that has allowed me to grow and succeed is my consistency.

I wasn’t born determined. I used to be a big procrastinator and still am in certain aspects of my life, especially when I don’t want to do something. But as life hit me in my late twenties, I realized that time would pass by, whether I do what I am supposed to do or not.

For example, when I was studying for my Bachelor's degree while raising a sickly 9-month-old baby, every time I wanted to give up because the load of a full-time job, being a single mom, and going to school at night was too much on me, I would get a good cry, then tell myself: « Christian will grow out of whatever is bothering him, but wouldn’t it be messed up if years later, I am still stuck in that same job making $10.83/hour? » I wanted better for myself and my son. So I kept going…And that’s how I developed the habit of CONSISTENCY.

The first thing you need to know about SUCCESS is it takes time, a lot of timeeee. And without the habit of consistency, how will you keep going when you are discouraged or heartbroken or feel lost, can’t even see the light at the end of the tunnel, or life just refuses to give you a break? Only the habit of consistency will get you to keep pushing forward.

Why do I call consistency a habit? Every day, do you need to think while performing your morning routine? NO!!! Every action comes naturally because it has become embedded in your mind. That's how the habit of consistency should be to you.

Here are some benefits you will reap from Being Consistent:

  1. Consistency will develop or increase your self-discipline because you will need to practice making conscious choices every day, even when you don't feel like it.

  2. Consistency will reduce your stress and bring you tremendous success because, as you can tell, procrastination comes with a hefty bill of stress and failures.

  3. Consistency will allow you to regain trust in yourself because you will stop letting yourself down, and it will allow you to develop better professional and personal relationships.

  4. Consistency will increase your confidence in your capabilities because "practice makes perfect," and you will be practicing your craft until it becomes second nature.

That’s why I believe consistency is the best ROI one can offer themselves in life.

Until next time,

Emma
