Consistency is a gift to YOURSELF!!!

When I look back over the past 20 years, besides my faith in God, the one thing that has allowed me to grow and succeed is my consistency.

I wasn’t born determined. I used to be a big procrastinator and still am in certain aspects of my life, especially when I don’t want to do something. But as life hit me in my late twenties, I realized that time would pass by, whether I do what I am supposed to do or not.

For example, when I was studying for my Bachelor's degree while raising a sickly 9-month-old baby, every time I wanted to give up because the load of a full-time job, being a single mom, and going to school at night was too much on me, I would get a good cry, then tell myself: « Christian will grow out of whatever is bothering him, but wouldn’t it be messed up if years later, I am still stuck in that same job making $10.83/hour? » I wanted better for myself and my son. So I kept going…And that’s how I developed the habit of CONSISTENCY.

The first thing you need to know about SUCCESS is it takes time, a lot of timeeee. And without the habit of consistency, how will you keep going when you are discouraged or heartbroken or feel lost, can’t even see the light at the end of the tunnel, or life just refuses to give you a break? Only the habit of consistency will get you to keep pushing forward.

Why do I call consistency a habit? Every day, do you need to think while performing your morning routine? NO!!! Every action comes naturally because it has become embedded in your mind. That's how the habit of consistency should be to you.

Here are some benefits you will reap from Being Consistent:

  1. Consistency will develop or increase your self-discipline because you will need to practice making conscious choices every day, even when you don't feel like it.

  2. Consistency will reduce your stress and bring you tremendous success because, as you can tell, procrastination comes with a hefty bill of stress and failures.

  3. Consistency will allow you to regain trust in yourself because you will stop letting yourself down, and it will allow you to develop better professional and personal relationships.

  4. Consistency will increase your confidence in your capabilities because "practice makes perfect," and you will be practicing your craft until it becomes second nature.

That’s why I believe consistency is the best ROI one can offer themselves in life.

Do you agree? Let me know in the comments. Don't be shy. Let me know if you are reading my blogs and if it bring value to you :-)

Until next time,

Emma

Consistency is a true principle of being a disciple of Christ Jesus. At times, the over and over and over and over of doing things becomes redundant and boring , but the outcomes of growth and success are fulfilling. Praying without ceasing, loving your neighbor, studying the Bible, etc. The success and growth of my future businesses is based on that same principle of consistency.

I applaud you Terry for taking a biblical principle and applying to your every day life. Most of us don’t fail because we lack the talents or resources; We fail because we refuse to stick to that one thing long enough to master it. We start questioning everything when what we should really question is our lack of discipline. Again, I applaud you. See you at the top 🔝

Most of us have a tendency to procrastinate, which is why discipline has to become our ally. You need to put in systems to strengthen you in the areas where you tend to procrastinate, like a timer and a written schedule if it’s time management. It will be annoying at first, and that’s why you need to focus on the benefits.

I love reading your articles and they do bring value to me. Personally, when working on a project and the results take time to manifest, I tend to switch to something else…but thank you for this reminder.

Next time, do like Jacob did to the angel and tell that project, I won’t let go until I reap what I have invested in you, and act accordingly.
